From My Mama’s Kitchen Recommends… Deborah Weed – The Luckiest Penny

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Continuing with the theme From My Mama’s Kitchen Recommends… where I am showcasing individuals who are doing extra ordinary things that touched the heart and moved the soul!

My guest for this week will be Deborah Weed. She is an artist and the author of “The Luckiest Penny.” It is a children’s book about having a healthy set of values that will assist them on their journey in life.

Deborah’s mission is to share how valuable “life experience is.” According to her; is it better to jump into life, even if it gets messy? Or, is it better to play it safe by waiting on the sidelines, hidden and protected by the walls of our own making, until the journey is over?

We need to start talking to our kids while they are still young, about how to make their own luck. It’s really simple: if you feel lucky, you are lucky, and especially if we think about all of the blessings that are in our lives.

The book’s genre is a fable/allegory and the illustrations are by award winning artist Ernest Socolov. An all original, musical interactive production is being created and produced for The Luckiest Penny. The show should be ready in November 2009.

Please call 347.327.9995 to join Deborah and I live on the air Tuesday 10/13/09 from 10-11 am US CDT as we discuss her life’s journey, her new book “The Luckiest Penny,” and her mission to making a positive difference in every child’s life.

The theme for August is From My Mama’s Kitchen Recommends… (This entire month I am showcasing authors who have written excellent books that touch the heart and move the soul!)

Is has been said that in every one of us there is a story good enough to be written into a book.  I realized mine in April 2007 when I was spiritually driven to write my first book From My Mama’s Kitchen-“food for the soul, recipes for living” in seven months.

Since hitting the market in January of 2009, I have been blessed with great reviews, and since the launched of my FMMK Talk Radio Show back in April with the mission of bringing motherly love to the global center stage and serving as a resource center for all mothers and women everywhere, I have been equally blessed by the many outstanding guests that have been on the air with me every Tuesday mornings.

Carol Tuttle, a mom, bestselling author, radio talk show host, speaker, and successful business woman is another one of the outstanding guest. She has agreed to kick off this wonderful series with me.

Carol is the creator and founder of Energy Profiling™ and Dressing Your Truth™, and she and I will be discussing her latest book – “soon to be another best seller” – It’s Just My Nature! (A Guide To Knowing And Living Your True Nature)

Her new book reveals a startlingly accurate method for assessing your personality and behavioral tendencies with a new system called Energy Profiling™.

Please call 347.327.9995 to join Carol and I live on the air this Tuesday 8/4/09 from 10-11 am CDT as we discuss her life’s journey, her new book and a little something about you that you may not realized that – it is actually your greatest gift!

Women Empowerment-Working Moms-The Balancing Act of Motherly Love and Career – Jamie Saloff, Author and Entrepreneur

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Jamie Saloff truly exemplifies the “spirit” and the “law” so to speak, of Women Empowerment – Working Mother – the Balancing Act of Motherly Love and Career.

Happily married to her husband Tim Saloff since 1979, Jamie had her first son Matthew in 1983. Shortly thereafter in 1985, she was diagnosed with cancer. Declared sterile by her doctors, Jamie surprised her doctors when just one month after her last radiation treatment she discovered she was pregnant with her second son Mark, considered their miracle baby, who was born seven and a half weeks early in May of 1986.

In 1990 after her mother passed on and with her personal cancer experience, she began writing her first book on healing, but never found a publisher. As a devoted writer she continued to write resulting in three books: The Collector’s Encyclopedia of Cowan Pottery (Collector Books, 1993), The Publishing Center: How to Create a Successful Publishing Center in Your School, Church, or Community Group (Beeline Books, 1996), and Transformational Healing, published in 2005 (Sent Books).

Jamie is also heavily involved as a member in good standing with the Pennwriters Organization since 1993, and has also served on its board. She was presented with the organization’s highest award, Meritorious Service in 2006.

Embroiled in the spirit of entrepreneurship, she expanded her knowledge, and combined with her love of writing by forming her own in-home business where she now serves as consultant, formatter, and guide to authors across the country who want to self-publish their books via Print on Demand.

Over the years, Jamie has hosted workshops, organized conferences, and given talks on a variety of topics, always with the intention of helping others improve their lives. She managed an all-volunteer elementary school writing and publishing center where, with the help of 100 parent volunteers, they annually produced over 500 child-written books each year. (For this, she won a PEPPer Award.)

She is currently working on her new book, Transformational Healing Focus Series, Transform Your Weight.

Please call 347.327.9995 tomorrow morning 6/23/09 between 10am-11 am U.S. CDT to join Jamie and I live on the air with your questions and personal stories.

Education will always be part of our life’s journey.  If we believe in success, then we must believe that education should always be a part of our life’s journey. When we open our mind and accept that fact that we do not know it all, and we never will, we are positioning ourselves to be ready to learn something new and add a new facet to our knowledge bank. (Recipe for Living #28 – from my book From My Mama’s Kitchen – “food for the soul recipes for living.”

Maia Berens, a life coach, dubbed as “Wise Fairy God Mother” is the founding director of the Mars Venus Institute. Her commitment to learn from and work with others while creating her own unique message has kept her on a path of both spiritual and personal growth for over 35 years.

Maia is a graduate from Rutgers University with a BA in Psychology, and has ‘Power of Feeling Teacher’s Training’ from Dr. John Gray. She has been through the CTI Co-Active Leadership Program, and has received training from the Coaches Training Institute.

Blended Family – Unconditional Motherly Love – If there is a will, there is a way!

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Remarried With Children: The new family dynamic! – My Last Show for my Mother’s Day Special Series for the month of May.

It’s wonderful to see successfully married couples raising their children. But the nuclear family as we know it is disappearing, giving way to blended families that are combination of adults and children from previous families.

An estimated one-in-three Americans are part of a blended family, and that’s expected to climb to 50% for Americans during their lifetime.

About 75% of divorced persons will remarry, and 65% of those remarriages will include children from prior marriages.

In fact, by 2010, blended families are projected to be the predominant family form in the United States.

Helping us keep step with how these families form and function is Shirley Cress Dudley, a Licensed Professional Counselor from Charlotte, North Carolina, with master’s degrees in both marriage and family counseling and education.

In addition to her practice, Shirley, along with her husband Eric, is blended family with five children.

In my book, From My Mama’s Kitchen – “food for the soul, recipes for living,” Unconditional Motherly Love and Wisdom is the not so secret – “Secret.”

Please call 347.327.9995 at 10 am CST tomorrow morning to join Shirley and I live on the air on FMMK Talk Radio to share your own stories!
